SLIDELL, La. - A 15-year-old boy was booked on second-degree murder charges after police say he fired six shots into a 28-year-old man who had been arguing with another man in the street early Sunday morning. A 20-year-old man was also charged after police said he introduced the gun into the situation and fired several shots at the victim.
According to Slidell Police, the victim, identified as 28-year-old Clarence Adams, was in a heated argument with 20-year-old Raheem Willis around 3 a.m. in the 700 block of Walnut Street.
Witnesses told police that Willis went to his house and grabbed a .22 caliber rifle and began firing at Adams. Police said it is uncertain if any of the shots struck Adams, but they said he continued to challenge Willis to a fight and that Willis put the gun down and began walking toward him.
Police said that the 15-year-old then picked up the rifle and shot Adams - at least six times.
Adams was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said several witnesses came forward and they quickly identified both suspects. Willis was taken to the Slidell City Jail, while the 15-year-old was taken to the Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
A grand jury will decide if the 15-year-old will be tried as an adult.
