ALBANY, La. (AP) -- Livingston Parish authorities are accusing a 21-year-old California man of driving drunk and killing his father in a car crash.
The Advocate reports that Ryan Chaisson was arrested Sunday following the 2 a.m. crash. Sheriff's deputies say the vehicle left the roadway, hit a ditch and then a tree. Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lori Steele says Chaisson's car rolled, ejecting his unrestrained father, 41-year-old Chad Chaisson, of Albany. The father was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies say Ryan Chaisson, of Sacramento, Calif., was treated for minor injuries and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on first-offense driving while intoxicated, vehicular homicide and reckless operation. Bail was set at $101,378.
Steele says speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
