COVINGTON, LA – The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says that a man held up several people in and near a residence in the 73000 block of Jasmine Street in the Abita Nursery subdivision of Abita Springs Sunday night.
Investigators said the suspect approached two men in a car in the driveway at the residence and pointed a gun at them and demanded money.
The suspect was given money and then went to the front door of the home where he fought with the homeowner and struck him with the gun before getting money from the man who then ran from the home.
Deputies said the suspect then entered the home and demanded money from the owner’s girlfriend who said she didn’t have any.
The homeowner was brought to St. Tammany Parish Hospital and treated for his injuries. He was released a short time later.
Deputies only said that the suspect was a dark-skinned man who appeared to be in his 20s.
