COVINGTON, La. — Covington Police are searching for information into two shootings they believe to be unrelated, both of which were reported to authorities by St. Tammany Parish Hospital officials.
Late Tuesday night, someone from the hospital reported to police doctors had seen a 19-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the leg, Covington Police Capt. Jack West said.
She told officers during an interview that she was sitting in her car at West 32nd Avenue and North Filmore Street when a car drove by and started shooting, West said.
She was released after being treated for a large-caliber gunshot wound.
Meanwhile, at 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, police once against received a call from the hospital, this time to report a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the face.
Officers haven’t been able to interview the man, who remains in critical condition, West said. Police, however, believe the shooting may be drug-related after finding drugs at the crime scene.
West said the man’s girlfriend told officers she came home to find her boyfriend in the parking lot by Lobelia Alley and Purslane in Covington.
A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in both shootings. Anyone with information is asked to call 985-892-8500.
