COVINGTON, La. -- A Covington man is facing charges that he shot his 19-year-old son during an argument at a house party, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened at 10 p.m. Saturday in the 120 block of Penn Mill Lake Boulevard in Covington.

Sheriff Jack Strain said Jody Camardelle, 43, got into an argument at a house party with his son. The son and his girlfriend went to the front yard to let Camardelle settle down, Strain said.

At that point Camardelle went to his garage and picked up his handgun. He then went outside to his son, began shouting at him and fired one round into his son's abdomen.

Camardelle faces one count of second-degree battery. His bond hasn't been set.
