COVINGTON, La. - A couple of suspects trying to break into a Covington home shot and injured a man who lived there with his girlfriend and a child early Thursday, according to Covington Police spokesman Jack West.
The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m in the 200 block of East 33rd Avenue.
West said the victim was at the home with his girlfriend and her young child when they were awakened by the sounds of someone trying to break inside.
West said the victim went to the front of the home and tried to confront them and when he did he was shot once in the side of his torso. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.
Covington Police Investigators searched the crime scene and recovered a firearm along with several projectiles.
