COVINGTON, La. – Covington police arrested a 40-year-old man and charged him with possession of Ecstasy and several other drug charges at a party early Sunday morning.

Mark Lano, 40, faces possession with intent to distribute cocaine, Valium and Ecstasy charges, said Captain Jack West, a spokesman for the Covington Police Department. Lano also faces charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Police learned of the party after receiving a call at 4 a.m. of loud music coming from a home in the 500 block of West 5th Avenue. West said the caller told the dispatcher people at the party were using Ecstasy

Officers found more than a dozen people in and around the home, and while investigating the scene, they saw a man throw plastic bags and $500 on the ground. West said officers found Ecstasy in the bags, and later learned it was Lano who had thrown the drugs.

West said after deputies received consent from Lano to inspect his 2009 BMW, they found Valium, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Officers also found a bag of cocaine while patting down Lano.

West said officers then checked 12 vehicles at the party, and one of them, belonging to 26-year-old Christopher Reeder, had a bag of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside. Officers arrested Reeder and booked him on possession charges.
