Interstate 12 near Hammond, La., is open against after a deadly accident involving two 18-wheelers on the Northshore backed traffic up eastbound near the Robert Exit for several morning commute hours.
According to a State Police Troop L Spokesman, an 18-wheeler was trying to merge onto the highway from the shoulder when another 18-wheeler struck it from behind. The second rig lost control and ran off the road, crashing into a tree.
The driver was killed and a passenger was injured. The driver of the first 18-wheeler was not injured.
The deceased driver was identified as 29 year old Aleksander Nyamtsu from Gresham, OR.
