SLIDELL, La. - St. Tammany Parish deputies arrested a man after a car and foot chase Monday afternoon near Slidell.

According to a sheriff's office spokesman, deputies stopped a vehicle that matched the description of one involved in a robbery of a pizza deliveryman in the Kingspoint subdivision Sunday.

When deputies tried to stop the vehicle by turning on their emergency lights, the driver drove off and a short chase ensued. When the suspect's car encountered a dead end, he got out and ran, according to deputies, who said he tossed a gun away during the pursuit.

A passenger was left inside of the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.

Dale Square, 27, was arrested for aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, illegal carrying of weapons and possession of marijuana. Deputies are trying to determine if Square or his passenger had any involvement in the pizza delivery robbery.
