SLIDELL, La. -- St. Tammany Parish deputies arrested two men in connection with a string of car burglaries in Slidell.
The arrests were made after dispatchers received calls of suspicious behavior at a used car lot in the 300 block of Voters Road. Two men were reportedly trying to get into the lot.
Sgt. Sean Beavers, a spokesman for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, said deputies caught 18-year-old David Pavlovich and 29-year-old Yazid Dawan as they tried to escape.
Beavers said deputies found a chainsaw and 4-wheeler, which were removed from a shed on the lot, on a sidewalk near the business. They also found items inside their getaway car that had been reported stolen in car burglaries in the area.
Surveillance video also showed the two were responsible for the theft, Beavers said.
Beavers said the two are believed to be responsible for a dozen car burglaries in the Kingspoint area since the end of July.
Most of the burglaries happened in cars with unlocked doors.
However, Beavers said, Pavlovich and Dawan are not believed to be connected with car burglaries from months ago in the same area.
