Disaster food stamp sites now open in St. Charles, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne

(DCFS) today announced Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) sites in St. Charles, Terrebonne and Tangipahoa parishes. The following sites will be open from Sunday, Sept. 9 through Saturday, Sept. 15 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Due to limited parking at two sites, a shuttle service will transport residents to the DSNAP sites in Amite and Boutte. Shuttle service will run continuously each day until it is determined that no new applicants can be served before 6 p.m.

* Tangipahoa Parish - Harvest Church, 43052 Yokum Rd., Hammond * Tangipahoa Parish - Shuttle Service will transport applicants from the Florida Parish Arena, 1301 NW Central Ave, Amite to DSNAP site at Amite Fire Hall Applicants should go to these DSNAP sites on the day indicated below based on the first letter of their last name.

Sunday, Sept 9 - S through Z
Monday, Sept 10 - A through C
Tuesday, Sept 11 - D through G
Wednesday, Sept 12 - H through L
Thursday, Sept 13 - M through R
Friday, Sept 14 - All applicants unable to make prior scheduled day Saturday, Sept 15 - All applicants unable to make prior scheduled day"

 

Two food stamp distribution sites have opened in Terrebonne Parish.

The sites are at the East Houma Bingo Hall, 425 Grand Caillou Road, and the Bayou Black Community Center, 3688 Southdown Mandalay Road, the state announced.

People with last names beginning with letters A through C are advised to go today. The center is open until 6 p.m.

The state has not yet released the rest of the schedule.

Lafourche residents can receive food stamps through Tuesday at the Cut Off Library, 16241 E. Main St., and Thibodaux's Peltier Park.

You should be prepared to provide:

• Names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth for each household member.

• Physical address.

• Monthly income.

• How much money you have in cash, checking and savings accounts.

Those who already participate in the state's food-stamp program do not need to apply. Benefits will automatically be added to EBT cards.

You can go to a site on someone else's behalf, but you must bring your own photo ID, photo ID of the person you are representing and a signed statement authorizing you to act on that person's behalf.
