SLIDELL, La. – Hit by a drunk driver in May 2008, in a coma for months, away from school for a year, Ashley Stokes returned to school full time for the first time in August for her senior year.
She was voted to the homecoming court by the students at Northshore High, and during the homecoming game Thursday night, it was announced that she had been named homecoming queen.
“For them to stick behind her from day one, and stay behind her for over two years now, it just feels good as a parent,” said her mother Karen Stokes.
