MADISONVILLE, La. -- A father shot his 37-year-old son in the leg after the man began punching his mother and sister, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Fernando Estopinal, V, 37, faces two counts of simple battery
Sheriff Jack Strain said Estopinal allegedly punched his mother and sister in the head around 11 a.m. Sunday.
Estopinal's father then shot him in the leg with a pistol. Strain said he called the sheriff's office to report what he had done.
The family then brought Estopinal to the St. Tammany Parish Hospital, where he is currently being treated after surgery.
Strain said the investigation is ongoing.
