Two hospitalized after float collapses in Slidell parade
Police say there are no on-site inspections of floats in Slidell, so they don’t know how much weight was on at the time.
There has been talk of passing an ordinance in Slidell for on-site inspections, but there is no requirement at this point.
The captains said it was their first and last time riding in the St. Patrick's Day parade. They say the recycled Mardi Gras float has been used for years. They didn't ask anyone to get off the float when they stopped it to change the tires.
