HAMMOND, La. – A 21-year-old man was arrested for forcible rape in Hammond on Wednesday after he admitted what he did to Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies.
Micahael Cheramie of Hammond became a suspect in the case during the investigation. Deputies learned that he knew the victim, whom he forced himself onto after repeatedly being told to stop, Sheriff Daniel Edwards said.
Following the investigation, detectives received a statement from Cheramie “stating his actions toward the victim,” Edwards said.
He was then taken into custody and charged.
