PEARL RIVER, La. - An accidental fire claimed the life of a 58-year-old Pearl River woman and injured her 61-year-old brother on Monday evening.
According to the State Fire Marhsal, just after 9 p.m. Monday, firefighters were sent to a residential fire on LA Hwy. 41. Upon arrival, they found a mobile home engulfed in flames.
After putting out the fire, firefighters found one of the home's occupants who had not escaped.
The marshal said the fire caused the structural failure of the mobile home.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. Investigators said there were no working smoke detectors present.
