INDEPENDENCE, La. – A 50-year-old man was arrested by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office for allegedly exposing himself to a child, according to Dawn Panepinto, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

Thursday, Willie Williams, of Independence, made rude remarks and exposed himself to a child, Panepinto said.

Williams fled after the incident, crawling under a fence, according to the sheriff's office.  When deputies found Williams, authorities also recovered the "soiled and wet cloths that Williams was wearing at the time of his escape and that he discarded to elude arrest," Panepinto said.

Williams was arrested and charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile.
