AMITE, La. - A St. Tammany work release inmate that was on the run in Tangipahoa Parish for two days in March will face a charge of simple rape in addition to other charges he was facing.

Christopher Ricker of Loranger is set to have a preliminary exam in Amite this week on allegations of attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated flight and the rape charge.

Authorities said Ricker escaped from the Northshore Workforce facility in Covington, which was the subject of Eyewitness Investigations.

Ricker kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and then crashed a vehicle into a deputy's car and fled  into the woods.

He was spotted by a resident and captured by a K-9 unit shortly thereafter.

The Workforce facility was shut down after the escape.
