GRETNA, La. - A couple arrested in Bayou Segnette State Park Thursday for a home burglary in Covington have now been arrested for two home burglaries in Jefferson Parish, the JP Sheriff's Office announced Friday.
Jason Morales, 27, and his girlfriend, Alison Smith, 21, were identified as the two suspects depicted in a video during the commission of a burglary on the Northshore.
Sheriff Newell Normand reported that under questioning, Morales and Smith admitted to burglarizing homes in the 5000 block of Folse Street and 5100 block of Haring Road in Metairie.
Deputies said that three firearms were stolen in those two burglaries and that Morales and Smith said they traded the weapons in New Orleans for heroin.
According to Morales and Smith, a third person was with them during the two Metairie incidents. He has been identified as Justin Whitfield, W/M 22, of 2104 North Arnoult Road in Metairie. Arrests warrants have been issued for Whitfield for two counts of Simple Burglary.
