Man dies in Ponchatoula house fire

PONCHATOULA, La. – A 60-year-old man was killed in a house fire in Ponchatoula early Monday morning, according to State Fire Marshal Butch Browning.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at 530 North 7th Street in Ponchatoula.

According to Browning, the Ponchatoula Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the home fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters entered the burning home and found the body of Mr. Aubra Fontenot inside.

Browning said an investigation is ongoing as to what started the fire.
