A Tangipahoa Parish judge found Mark Johnson not guilty in the alleged beating death of his three-year-old foster daughter Faith Saucier.

Saucier died of blunt force trauma in April 2011.

Prosecutors told a Tangipahoa Parish judge Wednesday that Johnson was the last person seen with the child still alive and was responsible for the dozens of bruises found on the girl's body.

Johnson’s attorney, Michael Thiel, countered that the state had a weak case, with only proof that his client was the last adult who was with Saucier before she died.

Thiel added that Saucier was known to injure herself and had medical conditions that caused easy bruising.

Former foster parents described the child as bubbly, full of life with a sweet personality and no traces of concerning behavior.
