NEW ORLEANS – Police announced that a warrant has been issued for a man in connection with a Ninth Ward murder in which the victim was shot and burned, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The wanted man, Don Brooks, 20, is already in custody in St. Tammany Parish on federal charges, according to the NOPD.
On Jan. 7, Eric Robinson, 42, was found in a grassy area in the 3700 block of North Rocheblave Street. He had been shot and his body burned. The New Orleans Fire Department had been called to put out a grass fire when Robinson’s body was discovered.
“During the course of the investigation, Don Brooks was positively identified by a cooperating witness as the person responsible for the murder and an arrest warrant was secured for Second Degree Murder,” said a statement from the NOPD.
Brooks will be extradited to Orleans Parish after he finishes his court proceedings in St. Tammany Parish and will face a second-degree murder charge, according to police.
