ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. -- A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Interstate-12 Thursday, according to State Police.

Tyler Bernos, of Mandeville, wrecked his motorcycle around 5 p.m. on Interstate-12 West, near LA 1088, said State Police, after he veered left, went off the road and hit a cable barrier.

He was taken to a hospital in New Orleans where was pronounced dead.

Bernos did not have a license to ride a motorcycle and was wearing helmet, though it was not fastened properly and came off during the crash. Speed is considered to be a factor.  It is unknown if alcohol is a factor, but a blood sample was collected and results are pending, said State Police.
