Manhunt in Bogalusa ends with arrest after two hours and road closures

BOGALUSA, La. - A two-hour manhunt for a burglary suspect shut down some roads in the Washington Parish town Thursday afternoon.
 
Police say a 26-year-old Devorus Montgomery was caught burglarizing a closed-down convenience store, but escaped custody and jumped into Creek Swamp, between Avenue B and Columbia streets. Search dogs from Rayburn Correctional helped officers re-capture the suspect just before 4 p.m. The roads were then re-opened.
 
Montgomery has been booked for burglary, resisting an officer, simple escape and a probation hold.
