SLIDELL, La. – Slidell police arrested a man last week after he pulled up next to a police officer while driving a stolen vehicle and asked her for directions.

The incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Ronnie Ricks, 26, drove next to Officer Theresa Lubrano while she was in the drive-thru line at the McDonalds in the 100 block of Brownswitch Rd, said Slidell Police Department spokesman Cpt. Kevin Foltz.

Foltz said Ricks asked Lubrano how to get to the interstate. When Lubrano gave him the directions, she had to repeat them several times because Ricks couldn’t understand her.

After Ricks left the McDonalds, Lubrano asked the dispatcher to run the license plate through the system. Not only did the vehicle show up in the system as stolen, Foltz said, it showed up as being stolen that same day.

A short time later a detective spotted Ricks, pulled him over and then arrested him.

Police booked Ricks, a New Orleans resident who last lived at 1128 Michael St., with possession of stolen things and possession of marijuana. Ricks is now in the St. Tammany Parish Jail under a $22,000 bond.
