HAMMOND, La. – Tangipahoa Parish deputies have arrested a man they say severely beat and robbed a man who had offered him a ride Sunday.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards said that 27-year-old Lucas Hutchinson was arrested on charges of violating parole, armed robbery and aggravated second-degree battery.
According to Edwards deputies found the victim lying in the middle of Weinberger Road covered in blood.
Deputies said the victim told them he had given Hutchinson a ride home and that at some point in the trip, Hutchinson asked him to pull into the driveway of an abandoned home and began beating him.
Edwards said the victim tried to escape but was pulled down and beaten into unconsciousness by Hutchinson.
Deputies said the victim identified Hutchinson and that he was picked up a short time later at his home.
