MANDEVILLE, La. -- Police arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting Sunday on the Tammany Trace, according to Lt. Gerald Sticker, a spokesman for Mandeville Police.
Jesse Stowe, 21, of Ponchatoula, was arrested around midnight by Mandeville Police, Sticker said. He was charged with armed robbery and attempted first-degree murder.
"Detectives have recovered several pieces of evidence such as the victim’s vehicle and a handgun which is suspected to be the same weapon used in this crime. Stowe confessed to the crime, acknowledging that the incident stemmed from a narcotics transaction gone awry," Sticker said.
The victim, Leonard Breaux Jr., 24, is still listed in critical condition at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.
Breaux, from Covington, La., was found unconscious Sunday night on the Tammany Trace near Colbert Street. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and taken to Lakeview Hospital in Mandeville. He was later transfered to Our Lady of the Lake.
