ST. TAMMANY, La. -- A St. Tammany subdivision is under a precautionary boil water advisory after crews broke a water main.

The water main break happened Wednesday at about 2 p.m. at the Lexington Place subdivision near Hwy. 59.

Crews are still working to repair the main break as of 4 p.m., but once water is restored, residents will be advised to boil their water for at least one minute before consumption.

Officials say it may last for as long as 48 hours after water service returns.

For more updates on the boil water advisory, head to the http://www.stpgov.org or call (985) 276-6400. The parish will also put up signs in the neighborhood.
