NEW ORLEANS -- Crimestoppers substantially raised the reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect who gunned down a Covington businessman in New Orleans East.
After receiving anonymous donations, the reward is now $27,500 for information into the murder of Bruce Cucchiara. (See Crimestoppers flyer)
Cucchiara, 57, was murdered on Apr. 24, after being shot multiple times outside of an apartment complex in the 4500 block of Papania Street. He later died at an area hospital.
"No amount money I can put on my husband's life," said Anne Cucchiara at the Crimestoppers press conference about the reward. "Cause there is no amount of money. He is invaluable." She added that she hoped people would come forward to help deliver justice.
"Bruce was very much loved, and he loved and he gave to everyone in everyway," said Anne Cucchiaria.
Police believe that Cuccharia was the victim of an armed robbery. Anne Cucchiaria said that her husband was killed for his cellphone and his wallet.
"People just can't kill people for any reason, and that's what they've been doing here in New Orleans," she said. "It just wasn't safe to come and he didn't see that. He didn't see the bad people, he just saw the good."
According to police, the suspect is described as an African American male in his mid-20’s. He is between 5’9” and 6’0” with a slim build, a possible light brown complexion and a clean shaven face.
He was seen wearing a black knit cap, a thick black jacket with a hood underneath, black pants and black shoes, and he was last spotted near the shooting scene towards Dreaux Avenue and then his location is unknown.
The suspect is believed to live in the area.
