PEARL RIVER, La. – Six people between ages of 17 and 22 were arrested for the beating and robbery of an 18-year-old, according to the Pearl River Police Department.
On January 4, officers responded to a call of a man found beaten and bloody at a local gas station.
Officers discovered Nicholas J. Engolia of Slidell, who had suffered from several lacerations and a concussion, at the scene.
Engolia notified police that the attack occurred near the intersection of Orange and Pearl streets in the middle of Pearl River.
He said he was led to an ATM under false pretenses to withdraw money and was then lured to the location where he was attacked and robbed of his money, according to police.
Detectives arrested Garrett Hemelt, 17, Jessica Marshal, 17, Mindi McQueen, 18, Dennis King, 17, Tara Billiot, 19, and Richard Frazier, 22, for the crimes.
Charges include second degree robbery, second degree battery, criminal conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. A warrant was issued for a juvenile involved in the beating and theft.
The group remains at the Pearl River Jail until they can be transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail for further processing.
