SLIDELL, La. – Water that went into businesses and homes, mostly in the Olde Towne area had all but gone away by Friday morning, according to Mayor Freddy Drennan.

Water had receded much more quickly than Drennan expected it to and he said no businesses or homes had water remaining inside.

“We’re looking a whole lot better this morning,” he said. “All of the pumps are running and we’re able to drain Olde Towne now.”

Drennan said the only time Slidell has seen flooding that was comparable to that left by Isaac was during Katrina.

“That was several feet more feet during Katrina.”

Drennan also said the city would be working on preventing another occurrence given that hurricane season is only about half over.
