SLIDELL, La. -- An elementary school in Slidell has wrapped up its drive to raise money for a Hurricane Sandy-affected school in the northeast.

Students at Bonne Ecole Elementary raised $1,300 to buy school supplies and learning games for kids at Fulton Avenue School #8 in Oceanside, NY.

The money will be used to buy the needed supplies with the goal of having them to the students after the Christmas holiday.

"I think it's for our area to let people know that helped us that we haven't forgotten and we do look for ways to give back to communities that potentially helped in some form or fashion," Theresa Bordelon, whose friends and family were affected by Sandy, said last month.
