HAMMOND, La. -- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office says a deputy involved in a deadly shooting back in August is still employed.
A grand jury declined to file criminal charges against Deputy William Phebus on Friday.
Authorities say Phebus accidently shot and killed 18-year-old Cjavar Galmon outside a nightclub in the village of Tangipahoa.
Following the grand jury decision, Friday, the sheriff’s office says Phebus remains on staff, but is functioning in a non-enforcement role.
