SLIDELL, La. - Three boys have been arrested after police said they fired a rifle toward a business and struck a man in the back, causing him to collapse.

The victim was taken to a hospital and his injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.

According to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman George Bonnett, the boys - ages 12, 13 and 15 - were interviewed in front of their parents and admitted to shooting in the direction of Friction Stir Link, which is located off Camp Villere Rd. in the Slidell area.

Bonnett said the sheriff's office received a 911 call about a man who had collapsed at the business. At first they believed it was a workplace injury, but upon arrival, EMS found that the victim had been shot in the back.

A witness told deputies that he saw three boys carrying a pair of rifles near a wooded trail area near his home.

The boys were transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center and each was booked with one count of negligent injuring and one count of illegal use of a weapon.
