SLIDELL, La. -- A tornado touched down just south of the Slidell Airport and the National Weather Service location on Airport Road.

A National Weather Service survey team looked over the damage and determined that it was an EF0/EF1 Tornado.

Most of the damage was done by an EF0 strength of 65-85 mph, but they determined that the strongest winds were as high as 88 mph which would be EF1 classification.  Path length was 2.5 miles and the width was 75 yards.

The Oakmont Subdivision was affected with damage.  Trees down, power lines down, minor to moderate roof damage, siding blown off, and some fences down were some of the reports.  The entire area was under a Tornado Watch until 3pm.

There was also other wind damage St Tammany and also in Washington parish as well.  Winds gusted over 40 mph in many areas.

Quiet weather for the next two days, but thunderstorms could return on Sunday.
