BATON ROUGE, La. - A bill to rename the Twin Spans between Slidell and New Orleans East in honor of former WWL-TV's Frank Davis cleared its final major hurdle Wednesday, passing unanimously, 90-0 in the state House.

The bill needs to hammer out some minor changes and it will be sent to Gov. Bobby Jindal for his signature.

Frank lived in Slidell and famously cooked, reported and fished in "Naturally N'Awlins" reports on WWL-TV for more than three decades.

The bridge will be named the "Frank Davis Naturally N'Awlins Memorial Bridge."

“This guy was an icon,” A.G. Crowe, R-Slidell, told The Advocate when he first proposed the bill.

“He was adored by all he encountered, both in person and in radio and television, because he was such an integral part of the heart of New Orleans,” Crowe told the newspaper.
