COVINGTON, La. – A Kenner woman and an Alabama man have been arrested and charged with aiding in the escape of a man who broke out of the St. Tammany Parish jail last weekend.
St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office spokesman George Bonnett said that 59-year-old Carole Pardo is accused of meeting Carlos Rodriguez outside of a Kenner restaurant the night of his escape and providing him with cash to aid in his getaway.
She was arrested by Kenner Police and Bonnett said she admitted to supplying Rodriguez with funds.
Also arrested was 27-year-old Boyd Allen Earl of Alabama who is accused of being a passenger in the getaway car that met Rodriguez near the jail and took him to Kenner after the escape.
Boyd Earl was arrested Thursday afternoon in Alabama by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and was charged with assisting escape. Bonnett said Earl is also the brother-in-law to Jacob Jones who was arrested earlier by St. Tammany Deputies for driving the get away vehicle from the jail. Earl was booked into the Randolph County Jail and awaits extradition back to St. Tammany Parish.
"This is just two more examples of individuals who aided Rodriguez and failed to report this activity to authorities,” said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain. “I strongly urge anyone who has been contacted by Rodriguez to contact your local police department or sheriff's office and report it.”
