WASHINGTON PARISH, La. -- A reward is being offered to find who is responsible for shooting two pit bulls near the intersection of Pico Road and Highway 25, according to Beau Gast, an investigator for the Humane Society of Louisiana.

Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the dogs were shot and abandoned at the intersection, Gast said.  "The pit bulls were not dead and continued to suffer after being dumped until euthanized by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office."

The location is a frequent dumping ground, according to Gast, for unwanted animals, as there is no parish-wide animal control facility.

The Humane Society of Louisiana and Tangi Humane Society have jointly issued a combined $750 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case, Gast said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Humane Society of Louisiana at 888-6HU-MANE or the Tangi Humane Society at 985-351-0181.
