TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. - On Monday, Independence Mayor Mike Ragusa issued a boil water notice for the entire town after a fiber optic crew drilled into the main water line.

Repairs were completed around 11:30 p.m. Monday, the mayor said.

The boil water notice continued into Tuesday, and a water test was conducted at 9 a.m. to determine if the advisory could be lifted.

Just before noon on Tuesday, Ragusa said the boil water notice will be in effect for another 18 to 36 hours.

Around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, the advisory was lifted, according to Ragusa.
