SLIDELL – A couple and their daughter were arrested by St. Tammany deputies for burglarizing a Slidell church, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Clariese Jones, Paul Mikell and their daughter, Olivia Jones were arrested Monday for burglarizing El Bethel Apostolic Ministry located on Allen Road, said Capt. George Bonnett. The trio reportedly admitted to breaking into the church.
According to the sheriff’s office, On Sept. 13, Eugene Wellington, pastor of the church, reported a burglary of the church which was under construction. Wellington said multiple items, including music equipment, water coolers, generators and additional electronics, had been taken during the burglary.
Three days later, Wellington informed the sheriff’s office his church had been burglarized a second time.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives investigating the church burglaries were told of a garage sale on Brookter Road at Jones and Mikell’s home. At the garage sale, the detectives found several speakers, a CD player and other electronic items advertised for sale on the front lawn of the home.
When the detectives brought in Jones, Mikell and Olivia Jones, they admitted to the burglaries, according to the sheriff’s office.
