SLIDELL, La. -- Three St. Tammany juveniles were arrested for the burglary of a Slidell-area church, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
The juveniles are accused of burglarizing St. Genevieve Parish Church on Highway 433, busting into a safe and taking the church's "poor box" and several bottles of wine, said Suzanne Cabroni, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.
About $2,100 was taken as well as jewelry that was stored in the safe. They also allegedly destroyed several computer monitors and damaged several doors in the burglary.
Deputies questioned five juveniles in the incident, and three of them admitted to burglarizing the church. They face a simple burglary of a religious building charge.
The other two juveniles admitted to a burglary of a drink shop in Slidell. The Slidell Police Department is handling that case.
