NAME — Robert Creigh Deeds.

AGE — 51; born Jan. 4, 1958 in Richmond, Va.

HOME — Bath County.

OCCUPATION — Lawyer, private practice; state senator.

EXPERIENCE — Won three-way primary for Democratic nomination for governor in June 2009; Ran for attorney general in 2005, losing by fewer than 400 votes; Elected to state Senate in 2001 special election to fill the seat of the late Emily Couric; won a full term in 2003 and was re-elected in 2007; member of House of Delegates, 1992-2001; former commonwealth's attorney.

EDUCATION — Bachelor's degree, Concord College, 1980; law degree, Wake Forest University, 1984.

FAMILY — Wife, Pam, 50; children, Amanda, 24; Rebecca, 22; Gus, 20; Susannah, 17.
