NEW ORLEANS - Because the New Orleans city councilmembers never met in quorum to choose an interim District B councilmember, the decision falls into the hands of Mayor Mitch Landrieu.
Friday was the deadline for councilmembers to make the decision.
Landrieu said that he would welcome recommendations from the council or the public and that he plans to have a decision 'sooner rather than later.'
A recent dispute within the city council prevented them from having a quorum at some meetings, which in turn stopped them from choosing someone to take over Stacy Head's old seat.
Head nominated Errol George to fill the position, but that was met with opposition.
