Troy Henry made a brief appearance in the ballroom at the Chateau Bourbon, where his supporters will spend election night, watching the vote be counted.
Henry says he has been on the street, drumming up support since around 7:00 this morning.
He says he spent most of the day, concentrating on predominately African American communities, including parts of New Orleans East, Mid-City, and Algiers.
Henry says feedback on the street has been strong. He feels like he will pick up much of the undecided vote.
He admits, that tonight's race will be for second place. Henry says Mitch Landrieu will likely finish first and he will get enough votes to push the mayor's race into a runoff.
In a recent WWL-TV voter survey, Landrieu had 45 percent of the vote, followed by Henry with 14 percent.
Henry says based on today's canvassing, he feels pretty good tonight.
Henry says he will spend election night in his hotel suite with his family and campaign advisors.
Win or lose, Henry says tomorrow he plans to fly down to Miami to watch the Saints in the Super Bowl.
