METAIRIE, La. -- State Rep. John LaBruzzo, R-Metairie, is sponsoring a bill in the legislature that would ban abortion in the state.
The bill, which you can find here, extends the penalties for feticide to women who have abortions and doctors who perform them.
He admits that his bill could conflict with Roe v. Wade. In fact, he says he expects and hopes that means it would wind up in court.
“I think the main difference between 1973 and now is that technology that we have. We can peer into the uterus and see an image that even my 4-year-old would say, you know, that's a baby,” LaBruzzo said.
If the bill passes, various groups are expected to challenge the law in court.
