Incumbent Johnny Shaddinger will face challenger Ted Munch in a May 4 runoff for Westwego mayor, a repeat of the election nearly five years ago which sent Shaddinger to the city’s top post.
Shaddinger earned 47 percent of the vote Saturday, or 1,183 votes, missing a primary win. Munch earned 923 votes. Third place finisher Lisa Valence earned 418 votes.
The same three candidates ran for mayor in 2008, with Munch leading in the primary but losing to Shaddinger in the runoff.
