AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The leader of a House panel investigating whether to impeach University of Texas System regent Wallace Hall says he wants to Hall to testify by the end of the July.
Rep. Dan Flynn is chairman of the House Transparency Committee. His panel is charged with investigating whether Hall's use of massive open records requests for documents from the University of Texas at Austin has interfered with campus management.
Some lawmakers have accused Hall of engaging in a "witch hunt" against campus President Bill Powers, who has clashed with Gov. Rick Perry and some board members.
Flynn said Friday he wants to start taking testimony on July 29 and wants Hall to be one of his first witnesses.
Hall and board chairman Gene Powell have declined comment on the impeachment investigation.
