WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans say their campaign arm raised $6 million last month to defend their majority. But they still trailed their Democratic rivals in fundraising.
Both parties' House campaign committees on Friday reported fundraising totals for May. Combined, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee have raised $241 million this cycle and have banked $81 million.
Democrats face long odds at toppling the Republican majority but have outraised the GOP campaign arm in 15 of the last 17 months.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised more than $7 million in May and has saved almost $46 million.
The National Republican Congressional Committee raised and $6 million last month and has $35 million in the bank.
