Report: Former Orleans judge booked on charges in Jefferson

Former New Orleans judge David Bell was arrested for his alleged role in an auto theft ring in Jefferson Parish.

Former Orleans Parish Juvenile Court Judge David Bell surrendered to Jefferson Parish authorities Monday.

Bell was booked on a criminal conspiracy and racketeering charges connected to the massive auto-theft ring broken up by police earlier this year, the New Orleans Advocate is reporting.

According to the Advocate, Bell "co-owned a New Orleans scrap yard said to be part of a scheme responsible for $2.5 million in losses in Jefferson Parish and to have accounted for almost one-third of the parish’s auto thefts in 2014 and 2015." See full story.
