The rising water in parts of Louisiana affected by the opening of the Morganza Spillway is also expected to affect wildlife in the area.

The Corps said the decision to gradually open the Morganza was to allow the animals to find higher ground.

Wildlife officials say that deer, snakes, birds, hogs and even bears will be forced out of their homes and pushed into places where humans live.

They warn that this can be dangerous for both the animals and humans.

Officials say people should avoid going near stranded wildlife, use extreme caution when driving along areas of high ground, and avoid feeding any wild animals.
